Known for delivering first-class service and innovative customer solutions, we are looking for a dedicated Freight Forwarder to join our dynamic team.

About the Experienced Freight Forwarder role:

As a Freight Forwarder, you will play a crucial role in managing relationships with customers and subcontractors, including owner-operators. You will ensure the efficient handling of consignments from start to finish, utilising our in-house systems and freight exchanges for return loads and optimising transport operations.

Our Experienced Freight Forwarder duties and key responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and subcontractors
  • Coordinating and scheduling shipments, including negotiating rates and booking loads
  • Managing end-to-end communication with clients, from quoting to invoicing
  • Utilising freight exchanges to identify and secure return loads, optimising vehicle usage
  • Overseeing the progress of consignments, ensuring timely and efficient delivery
  • Liaising with drivers, owner-operators, and service providers to address and resolve any issues
  • Maintaining regular communication with subcontractors to ensure smooth operations
  • Providing regular updates to customers on the status of their shipments
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal requirements, including Driving Hours and Working Time regulations
  • Monitoring and reporting on transport costs, striving to minimise expenses and maximise profitability.

Our ideal Experienced Freight Forwarder will have the below skills and experience:

  • Experience in freight forwarding or logistics, with a strong understanding of route planning and transport operations
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and subcontractors
  • Familiarity with utilising freight exchanges for return loads
  • Strong understanding of legal requirements regarding Driving Hours and Working Time
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player mentality with a proactive approach to supporting colleagues.
  • The ability to make decisions under pressure and to tight timescales.
