Data Engineer - Platform Transformation (AWS & Azure Fabric)
Fully Remote (occasional travel to Reading office)
8 month contract, inside IR35, £600 per day
We're working exclusively with a leading organisation currently undergoing a significant transformation within their data and technology landscape. This role sits at the heart of that transformation, and we're looking for an experienced Data Engineer to help modernise and centralise their data infrastructure. You'll be introduced to key stakeholders and subject matter experts as part of the process.
This is a newly created position driven by an increased need for resources on strategic data projects. As part of the company's long-term roadmap, they are investing in a hybrid cloud environment and centralised data platform, necessitating the addition of top-tier engineering talent.
Technology Stack & Requirements
We're looking for someone with solid technical foundations and proven experience across the following technologies:
Core skills: Python, SQL
Cloud platforms: AWS (including S3, Redshift, Kinesis)
Azure: Especially Azure Fabric - the business is transitioning from AWS to Azure Fabric, so experience in data migration and centralisation across cloud platforms is essential.
Lead the centralisation of data from various sources (AWS, SQL, etc.) into a unified platform
Support the migration of data infrastructure from AWS to Azure Fabric
Build and deliver robust, cleanly coded, and well-documented data pipelines
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver pipelines for multiple products and use cases
This is a fully remote role, but occasional travel to the Reading office (once or twice during the project) is appreciated.
Certifications in AWS or Azure are beneficial but not essential.
The platform is in early development stages, so a proactive, hands-on engineer is ideal for shaping its maturity.
You'll be joining at the ground level of an exciting transformation project. Our partner is looking to move fast on this hire, and there is potential for the role to evolve into a longer-term or even permanent position. The project is backed by strong leadership, and the team is highly motivated to build something future-proof.
