Industrious Recruitment and seeking a Facilities Technician on a permanent basis.

On emergency call, one weekend in four.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are seeking a proactive Facilities Technician who can work both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will use their initiative to prioritise and complete tasks efficiently while maintaining a friendly and courteous attitude during interactions with staff and visitors.

Support the Facilities Department by:

  • Executing a planned preventive maintenance (PPM) programme for all company buildings and utilities.
  • Conducting routine checks and inspections of facilities and equipment, including fault finding, problem-solving, and minor repairs (e.g., Air Handling Units, Air Conditioning Units).
  • Performing minor installations and repairs (electrical, plumbing, woodwork, and decorating), planned and executed to minimise risk or inconvenience to others.
  • Ensuring an adequate supply of spare parts on site for commonly used items or those with a long lead time.
  • Contacting and assisting external contractors as required.
  • Reporting all major breakdowns, significant problems, repair requirements, delays, or machine downtime to relevant personnel promptly.
  • Setting up conference rooms for meetings and assisting with office moves, including moving furniture and equipment.
  • Responding to emails and face-to-face requests from staff for repairs or troubleshooting building issues.
  • Travelling to the Oxford site approximately once a month to undertake facilities work.
  • Assisting with the upkeep of grounds, roadways, and car parks.
  • Joining the facilities on-call team to respond to emergencies, typically covering one week in every four.
  • Maintaining a proactive approach to building maintenance

    ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Relevant Level 3 City & Guilds Qualification (i.e. Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry)
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths’ and English.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety and its application to the working environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office suite of software (Excel, Word, Outlook and the Internet).
  • A knowledge of manual handling and the ability to lift and carry objects.
  • Over 18 years old.
  • Full UK driving license.
