Overview:

First Military are currently working in conjunction with a new client who is keen on hiring ex-military personnel. They are currently recruiting for a field-based service and repair Engineer for Emergency Power Solutions (IPS systems), predominantly in hospital operating theatres throughout the Midlands. It involves the maintenance of clinical products, including examination and operating lights, medical gas pendants and surgeon control panels.

Working closely with other members of the Service team, the Field Service Engineer will ensure efficient service and maintenance of existing, new and replacement medical equipment, ensuring work is conducted in a safe, organised, and professional manner, especially important in critical care environments.

There may on occasion be a requirement for UK travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver on-site scheduled PPM maintenance and servicing of equipment,
  • Conduct routine service work on all company and 3rd party installed equipment (often working unsupervised).
  • Carry out commissioning and repair on all types of IPS systems
  • Perform diagnostic (intrusive) testing/fault diagnosis on all existing install base for medical device equipment, including IPS systems and carry out the necessary repairs/preventative maintenance, based on thorough assessment of existing install base equipment.
  • Carry out work instructions in a timely manner and adhere to Company procedures and comply with the relevant Health & Safety and Quality standards. • Carry out any electrical wiring, testing (and commissioning) on all Company products and 3rd party products (where necessary). • Set up and configure remote monitoring software where necessary (with appropriate support).
  • Complete all necessary service documentation and ensure this is accurately processed and filed appropriately.
  • Provide support/expertise to the Installation Team on specific projects as and when necessary to meet the needs of the business and support the Company’s order fulfilment and engineering resource.
  • Participate in the “on-call” rota-system for emergency call-outs, ensuring the Company is able to respond and cater for individual customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Ensure vans are kept clean, tidy, and suitably stocked to effectively respond to customers/jobs, providing the best level of service.
  • Understand the Company’s obligation to quality and to apply the appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) pertinent to the role.
  • Understand the Company’s commitment to Health & Safety and ensure that policies, procedures, and safe methods of work are always followed to safeguard colleagues and customers.

Skills & Experience:

  • A skilled electrical and mechanical Engineer possessing the desire and capacity to learn quickly and to carry out tasks safely and effectively.
  • Strong “fault-finding” skills with the ability to conduct diagnostic (intrusive) testing.
  • Hold a relevant HNC or above in electrical or electronic engineering (desirable).
  • Possess a good understanding of power electronics and electrical installations, especially IPS.
  • Hold a full driving license (preferably clean).
  • Adopt a flexible approach with the desire to learn and take on new skills.
  • Willing to travel on a regular basis and work away from home at times.
