Field Service Engineer

Location: South East, with close links to the M25

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000, depending on experience, (uncapped overtime and call out rota)

Our client is the acknowledged leader in perimeter security equipment, including automatic Gates, Barriers, Bollards and Roadblockers. Their expertise in design and manufacture is the result of over 70 years experience and are accredited to ISO 9001.

With around 100 staff based at their headquarters in West Sussex they provide a complete range of services including design, site surveys, manufacture, installation, civil and electrical services, maintenance, spares, repair or refurbishment and full project management, all backed up by a fully comprehensive customer service programme.

All their products are available with a wide range of control options and operating systems which are constantly evolving to meet their customer’s demands. They work with many familiar companies from offices to banks, cash handling services and Government buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, with training provided for specific requirements.
  • Possess a full, preferably clean, driving license.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Communicate effectively in a clear, concise, and logical manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate experience in electrical and mechanical work, including fault finding, repair, installation, and commissioning.
  • Conduct site surveys as needed.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • Good level of fitness to meet the physical demands of the job.
  • Ability to pass security clearances.
  • Flexible and positive outlook.
  • Availability for out-of-hours callouts.

Desirable Attributes

The following qualities would be advantageous but are not essential:

  • Working experience and qualification in 3 phase and 18th edition electrical.
  • Recognised Health and Safety training.
  • Welding experience and qualification.
  • Hydraulic, pneumatic, or fluid system experience.
  • Previous experience with gates, barriers, or blockers.

Additional Information:

  • Some foreign travel may be available but is not compulsory.
  • Occasional weekends and very occasional night shifts may be required.
  • Varied working conditions suitable for individuals who appreciate diversity in their roles.
  • Working hours based on a 40-hour week during normal office hours Monday - Friday, but daily working hours may vary based on client requirements.
  • Overtime may be required at short notice.
  • Out-of-hours callouts will be part of this role, normally on a 1 in 4 week basis.
