My client is seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner for a 6-month temporary contract, with an immediate start preferred.
Applicants are kindly asked to include salary expectations and earliest availability when applying.

The Role: We are looking for a pragmatic and proactive Finance Business Partner to deliver high-quality financial support across a range of services. This role requires building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, influencing decision-making, and driving financial performance in a fast-paced public sector environment. You’ll need to be just as comfortable challenging the status quo as you are rolling up your sleeves to help meet key deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive financial and management accounting support, including budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and final accounts preparation.
  • Deliver clear, evidence-based financial advice to service leads and senior management on the impact of operational and strategic decisions.
  • Support budget holders through meaningful financial analysis, challenging assumptions where needed, and promoting a value-for-money culture.
  • Work collaboratively across services to ensure the effective management of resources, identifying risks and opportunities early.
  • Prepare and submit financial returns and statistical data to government bodies and other key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives, business case development, and funding bid submissions.
  • Stay ahead of changes in financial regulations, ensuring compliance and supporting the authority’s commitment to strong governance.
Candidate Profile:
  • Fully qualified CCAB accountant (or equivalent) preferred; strong candidates with significant relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Strong technical knowledge of local authority finance regulations, including CIPFA Codes of Practice.
  • Proven track record advising senior leadership on complex financial matters.
  • Comfortable navigating competing priorities and working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • High proficiency in financial systems, Excel modelling, and MS Office applications.
  • An ability to influence and constructively challenge stakeholders at all levels.
  • A collaborative team player who builds trusted partnerships across an organisation.
