Position Overview

As the Finance Director, you will oversee and manage the financial operations and revenue generation efforts, ensuring the effective and efficient financial management of the organisation. Reporting to the CEO, you will provide strategic financial guidance and operational execution to support the company's mission and objectives. This role is pivotal in driving financial sustainability and accountability across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Strategy and Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy aligned with the organisation's goals and regulatory requirements. Lead the annual budgeting process, ensuring accurate financial forecasting and resource allocation.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Oversee the preparation of monthly budget reports and maintain an effective budgeting and forecasting process. Ensure cost-effective resource allocation across all departments.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with statutory laws and financial regulations.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor and report on cash flow planning and debt collection to ensure adequate liquidity for operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis, providing insights and recommendations to support informed decision-making. Create reports that identify results, trends, and forecasts.
  • Funding and Grants Management: Manage relationships with funding bodies, sponsors, and grant providers, ensuring compliance with funding agreements and reporting requirements.


Essential Experience and Skills

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with significant senior post-qualification experience.
  • Proven experience in strategic financial planning and execution.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent leadership and management abilities with a track record of motivating and developing high-performing teams.


Desirable Skills

  • Understanding of national governing bodies and the sports system in the UK.
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation.
  • Passion for sports and a willingness to support various work areas within the organisation.


Additional Information

Contract: Part-time (21 hours per week, flexible within Monday to Friday).
Location: Flexible home working with regular board and team meetings in London (approximately 2 days per month).
Holidays: Pro-rata 25 days per year plus bank holidays.
Salary: £60-65k pro rata
