A truly unique and interesting opportunity has arisen for a capable and confident Senior Finance individual. Working closely with the owners, senior management team and budget holders, the successful individual will play a key leadership role in the business. This will appeal to someone seeking an opportunity which promotes autonomy and personal development.

You will lead the operational finance function and offer strategic focus within this exciting and eclectic owner managed business, which has several trading divisions, located in a stunning setting near Carlisle.

Core responsibilities.

Preparation of annual budget and monthly forecasts
Management accounting, P&L reporting for several trading companies
Oversee the annual statutory accounting process and liaison with external accountancy firm & Auditors
Cashflow forecasting and cash management.
Adhoc financial reporting, analysis and project accounting
Identify improvements and efficiencies in finance processes, systems and controls
Oversee Payroll & Pensions, review VAT return prior to submission & ONS stat return.
Personal Tax Duties (Desirable, not essential)
Oversea two finance staff responsible for invoicing, bank reconciliations and support with month end duties.
Intercompany accounts to be reconciled.
Using XERO accounting software.

Person specification:

Proven experience in a similar senior finance role
A bias towards SME, start-up/portfolio type businesses desirable.
Confident communicator, able to business partner with a wide variety of people and colleagues
'Qualified by experience’ or Fully CCAB Qualified (ACA, CIMA, ACCA),
Strong management and financial accounting skills
Excellent understanding of systems and accounting software, Advanced XERO user highly desirable
Encouraging of automation.
Driving licence essential - due to rural location

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range £45,000 - £60,000 DOE
25 days annual leave + 8 x bank holidays
People’s Pension Scheme - 3% employer contribution
Working hours - 37.5 per week (Consideration towards slightly reduced hours/flexibility with start/finish times

Core hours 10:00- 16:00
Office based in the majority - with the option of some flexibility.
