Accountancy Recruit is partnering exclusively with a holding company that has three subsidiaries and a turnover of 30m, involved in energy, retail and property in the recruitment of a Finance Manager, to join their well-established team based in Billericay and directly responsible to two Directors.

The purpose of the Finance Manager role is to take responsibility for the entire accounting function from start to finish using Sage 50, ensuring the credibility of the transactional level, monthly management accounts and year end statutory requirements: working with the external Accountants. Creating and analysing financial reports, ensuring legal requirements compliance, tax payments and the effectiveness of processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and providing hands on support to the day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process on Sage 50.
  • Working closely with the Accounts Administrator to ensure process is as efficient as possible.
  • Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct day book, supplier's ledger, customer ledger and general ledger.
  • Perform partial checks of the posting process.
  • Enter data, maintain records, and create reports and financial statements.
  • Manage month end closure and production of the trial balance.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts: P&L and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Analysis of Management Accounts, reporting any discrepancies to company Directors.
  • Attend monthly board meeting to present management accounts to the Senior Management Team.
  • Create required monthly/annual comparison reports.
  • Prepare and post VAT returns (including partial exemption calculations), arrange payment/record credit.
  • Work alongside the Business Manager in preparation of yearly forecasts.
  • Year-end statutory accounts - take lead role in providing information to external Auditors
  • Provision of information to company bankers (including debt service covenant and CFADS calculations).
  • Involvement in projects to streamline and automate systems.

Requirements and skills

  • Fully or part qualified ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, AAT or Qualified by Experience.
  • Energy or retail finance environment background would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communicate skills, with the ability to interact professionally with team members working at all levels.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience with Sage Line 50, Prism and Envisage would be an advantage.
  • Proven IT experience to adapt.

Remuneration

Salary: £50 - 55,000 pa.

Discretionary bonus.

Holidays: 28 days holiday including bank holidays.

Full Time: Monday - Friday. 9.00 am to 5.30 pm. Flexible hours.

Free car parking.

Pension: Auto enrolment.

Office based role in Billericay.
