About the Client:

Our client is a pioneering clinical-stage biotechnology company based in Oxford, with operations in both the UK and the US. 

About the Job:

The Finance Manager will play a pivotal role within the finance team, supporting the expanding Finance division. This position requires a confident user of SAGE, QuickBooks, and Excel, fully qualified to ACA, ACCA, or CIMA standards. The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter with a solid understanding of accounting principles, able to work well under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively. Biotechnology industry experience is advantageous.

Duties will include:

  • Monitoring day-to-day financial operations such as payroll, invoicing, and transactions.
  • Ensuring accuracy and integrity of internal and external financial reporting.
  • Business partnering with other departments.
  • Conducting budget analysis.
  • Managing the year-end process.
  • Liaising with tax advisors and assisting in UK and USA tax filings, including SME R&D tax credits/RDEC claims.
  • Maintaining fixed asset records.
  • Ensuring robust financial systems.
  • Supporting regular reforecasting activities.
  • Assisting the Assistant Accountant.

About the Successful Applicant:

The ideal candidate holds a professional accounting qualification with knowledge of IFRS/FRS and US GAAP. They should have experience with Sage Line 50 and QuickBooks, strong Excel skills, and be a strong team player capable of working independently. Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills are essential. Experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry and with listed companies is desirable.

What You Will Receive in Return:

  • £300 - £400 per day umbrella company
  • 4-6 month assignment with possible temp to perm
