Newbury - Hybrid Working

£50,000 - £60,000 + benefits

We are looking for a hands on Finance Manager to lead the monthly and annual accounting cycle, reporting, analysis and partnering for a growing entity within a wider engineering services group that works with nationally recognised customers.

This position reports directly into the Group Finance Director and is offering high levels of autonomy as well as close mentoring from an FD who has a strong track record of developing talented finance teams.

We are looking for a personable, humble and driven individual who has a strong core accounting background and a can do attitude!

Wish List

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA)
  • Prior experience working in a management accounting capacity - including P&L and B/S control
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Desire to partner non-finance stakeholders across multiple entities.

The Role

The successful Finance Manager will manage the following:

  • Produce the monthly management accounts pack including variance and commentary
  • Manage and maintain the ledgers (general, cashbook, sales and purchase).
  • Calculate the accrued income, deferred income, WIP and overhead accruals.
  • Review the journals for accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and payroll.
  • Prepare the trial balances and the reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Review and submit the monthly CIS and PAYE returns, quarterly VAT returns and annual P11D’s.
  • Manage the monthly and weekly payroll processes.
  • Manage the bi-monthly payment run process, performing the required checks and approving payments.
  • Provide business partner support to Operational teams, directors and the wider finance leadership.
  • Prepare and perform ad-hoc analysis and reports as required for the Finance Director.
  • Provide cover for the Finance Director at meetings as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of the year end accounts and annual tax pack.
  • Assist external auditors.
  • Manage monthly ICO recharges and billing.
  • Monthly calculation of financial FTE’s.
  • Drive process improvements within the Finance department.
  • Train and develop the existing Finance team of 2.

Your Profile

We are looking for a proactive qualified accountant who looks to drive improvement in their roles.

Someone with prior experience as a Management accountant or financial accountant who is looking to grow into a management position would be ideal for this opportunity but it could equally suit someone at a manager level already looking for a new challenge.

We need someone ambitious who has a commercial mindset and the people skills to add value and pro-actively make improvements across the business.

Salary & Benefits

£50,000 - £60,000 + benefits. This role is offered on a hybrid basis 3 days per week in office.
