Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a Housing Association in Nottingham for a Finance Officer to join the team on a temporary basis. The company is seeking a Finance Officer to join their management accounting team. They are a large and supportive finance department, providing the opportunity to develop and gain experience in management accountancy.
The Finance Officer will be responsible for providing essential financial support to budget holders alongside their finance colleagues. They will be required to assist the Ledgers, Rents & Banking team in the provision of effective and responsive financial services to the NCHA Group.
Main responsibilities
- Financial Process Management:
- Maintain and administer purchase and nominal ledgers, rent account postings, and journal records.
- Ensure efficient processing of invoices and receipts and reconcile supplier, customer, and rent statements.
- Income and Accounts Reconciliation:
- Run weekly interfaces from housing to accounts, manage rent postings, and chase missing codes.
- Maintain and reconcile suspense and cash in transit accounts, ensuring unallocated rent payments are accurately assigned.
- Bank Account Administration:
- Assist with bank account processes and perform reconciliations according to timetables.
- Log and post daily bank statements and transactions.
- System Entries and OCR Management:
- Prepare and process system entries (e.g., invoicing, payments, general ledger journals).
- Administer and maintain the OCR system, processing error entries, and ensuring timely updates.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Extract and analyse data for VAT/CIS returns, ensuring timely submission.
- Assist with period and year-end close procedures, statutory account production, and audit processes.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience in a financial role dealing with income and expenditure, applying financial rules and procedures.
- Knowledge of financial budgetary controls.
- Familiarity with financial systems such as purchase ledger and/or sales ledger.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions like pivot tables and VLookups.
- Understanding and responding appropriately to the needs of people from diverse backgrounds.
