FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT - LONDON

To £80k plus benefits (discretionary bonus, pension, healthcare, 4 x salary life assurance etc)

West End offices - 4 days in office, 1 from home

Leading investor in primary healthcare accommodation across the UK & Ireland. The company owns 517 properties valued at over £2.8 billion. The business has a team of circa 60 people based at their central London offices and Stratford-upon-Avon, with a further 30 employees in Ireland.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Group Accountant, this is an opportunity to join a small, bright and friendly team. The team has had virtually no turnover in the past few years, and this is testament to the happy environment the business has created. The business is committed to helping people to learn and advance and to relaise thier full potential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibilty of this role will be assisting in the preparation of management accounts, preparing statutory accounts and completing other statutory and tax obligations.

Financial Accounting & Reporting

-Assisting with the preparation of the year end and interim group financial statements of a FTSE 250 business

-This will involve being responsible for preparing and reviewing several quarterly and ad hoc workpapers and control accounts to ensure they are up to date including but not limited to:

-Accruals (including loan interest), loan amortisation, development interest, swap interest payable, investment property and development ledgers, capitalised salaries, PAYE and SAYE postings, group bank borrowings, purchase ledger, variance analysis and other schedules as required.

-Booking half yearly portfolio property valuations

-Booking quarterly FX revaluations for Irish portfolio of 21 properties

-Acting as Financial Controller of the Irish business, including preparation of quarterly management accounts for the ICAV structure, a regulated fund for the Irish portfolio

-Overseeing the preparation of the financial statements and the year-end audit of the ICAV fund with advisers

-Alongside other members of the finance team, preparing and reviewing SPV financial statements using CaseWare Accounting Software

-Dealing with the external auditor for the year end and interim accounts, including preparing work papers and responding to queries

-Perform year-end roll forward process along with company strike-offs in the accounting system

YOU

-A qualified accountant with several years industry experience ideally within a real estate business with understanding of development projects

-Curious mindset, an eye for detail, possibly with an audit background

-Experience of the latest developments in reporting standards and an exisitng knowledge of the real estate sector

-Effective verbal & written communication skills and not afraid to ask questions

-Will inherently want things to be right and not cut corners
