Financial Accountant

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent (Part Time may be considered)

Location: London

Salary: £50,000 per annum

Hours: 35 hours per week

The Role

As a Financial accountant, you will work to support Finance functions of their National Directorates. You will provide the financial controller with financial insights and analysis, enabling informed decisions - at the earliest possible stage - to drive the business forward.

Your understanding of their business, their stakeholders and of the people we support will become your greatest asset. You will have well-developed communication skills coupled with proven financial and analytical abilities; these will help you to form productive partnerships with directorate managers and leaders.

Their Care Operations include residential social care, residential nursing care, rehabilitation care, supported living, and extra-care services.

You will develop a passion for our business, and a strong commitment to our corporate values and to those we support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage transactional financial processes.
  • Post month end reconciling journals
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support the Payroll team with Journal posting.
  • Understand their business performance through financial analysis and forecasting
  • Contribute to the completion of monthly reporting frameworks
  • Regularly review and update transaction processes for Purchase and Sales ledger teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting records.
  • Support the statutory accounts process through the formal audit and through the implementation of regular control functions.
  • Play an active role in the annual audit process including coordinating and preparing the Statutory Accounts
  • Review records against contract information and carry out monthly reconciliations
  • Prepare Regulatory Returns - ONS surveys, VAT, PAYE and Tax and Gift aid returns.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships through evidence-based challenge, and innovation

Skills and Qualifications

  • You are a qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA) or Part Qualified final stages
  • You have proven previous experience in a Finance department of a charity
  • You demonstrate strong interpersonal skills (confidence; resilience; influence)
  • You have proven experience in using financial systems, data handling, and Microsoft Office, specifically the Advanced Excel analysis and products
  • You provide attention to detail and accuracy
  • You have a demonstrable ability to prioritise your workload
  • You have a demonstrable commitment to team working
  • You have a demonstrable ability to work under pressure
  • You have demonstrable experience of making a positive difference

Essential Industry Experience:

  • Social Care sector, Health Care sector, Education sector, or alternatively any relevant Commercial sector experience.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to work in the UK.
  • Candidates are expected to work from the office two/three days each week for a FTE role
