Overview:

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Accountant to join our team for a 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic finance function, providing support across various accounting activities, month-end close, reporting, and financial analysis. The role is based in Solihull with a flexible hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monthly Management Accounts: Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.

  • Month-End & Year-End Processes: Calculate and post accruals, prepayments, and other monthly adjustments as required during the month-end, quarterly, and year-end close processes.

  • P&L Review: Review and reconcile key Profit & Loss (P&L) nominal accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations as part of the month-end close process.

  • Variance Commentary: Assist with monthly reporting, providing variance commentary to senior finance colleagues for Group-wide reporting purposes.

  • Invoice Processing: Ensure the accurate processing of invoices and efficiently deal with queries related to outstanding invoices from the business.

  • Employee Expenses Review: Review employee expenses to ensure they are correctly coded in line with company policy.

  • System Knowledge: Utilize financial systems to automate tasks and improve reporting efficiency.

  • Quarterly VAT Returns: Prepare the quarterly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Statutory Accounts & Tax Returns: Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and tax returns.

  • Audit Support: Provide necessary information and support during the audit process, ensuring smooth and efficient audits.

  • Ad-Hoc Reporting & Analysis: Undertake ad-hoc analysis and reporting to support business initiatives and decision-making.
