Alexander Daniels are currently supporting a dynamic and forward-thinking SME business in their search for an experienced Financial Accountant to take ownership of day-to-day accounting operations and contribute to the company's continued growth. Reporting into the Finance Director, you'll be responsible for the full spectrum of financial accounting activities. From month-end close and statutory reporting to payroll and tax compliance, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact and bring your ideas to the table.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger processes
Preparing monthly and annual financial statements, liaising closely with the company's external tax advisors
Overseeing VAT, corporate tax, and customs compliance
Supporting annual audits and working alongside external auditors
Leading payroll accounting and monthly shareholder reporting
Driving process improvements and contributing to optimisation projects
Collaborating with the company owner and wider business teams
The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or AAT/Qualified by Experience candidates may also be considered) with a strong background in financial accounting within an SME environment. You will need to have meticulous attention to detail and a structured, proactive approach with advanced Excel skills. Proficiency in Xero accounting software would also be a benefit, although this is not essential.
