The Company

Oakglen Wealth is a fast-growing investment manager offering discretionary and advisory services from offices in Jersey and the UK to clients globally.

The Group

Oakglen is a group of investment and operating companies with interests across the UK, Channel Islands, Europe and the North America in the wealth management, real estate, private equity, and financial services sectors.

In real estate, LBS Properties specialises in delivering high-quality, large-scale, complex residential and office projects. LBS has been responsible for the delivery of over 1,300 private and affordable homes and 400,000 square feet of office space since 2012 and works with both private and institutional capital partners.

In private equity, Oakglen’s Technology & Innovation fund invests growth capital, with a focus on financial technology and operational real estate. Oakglen typically takes a lead investor role in the companies it invests in and believes in an actively managed approach.

In financial services, in addition to Oakglen Wealth, Oakbridge provides corporate and fund administration services, including accounting and company secretarial services, predominantly from Jersey to an international client base of fund managers and institutions.

The Role

The Controller will manage all aspects of financial management within a dynamic and challenging investment management business with locations in UK and Jersey. Your role will include oversight and management of all day-to-day accounting operations as well as informing more strategic and long-term financial decision making.

You will report to the two wealth management boards and work closely with the group finance director with ample opportunity to manage internal stakeholders directly.

You will be responsible for controlling and managing all aspects of the finance function, including:

  • Prepare all financial statements and monthly management accounts for each jurisdiction and on a consolidated basis
  • Lead in the provision of management information to the boards of the relevant businesses
  • Oversee the audit process and liaise with external advisors where required
  • Ensure that all insurance requirements are met and regularly reviewed
  • Provide detailed financial forecasts and budgets
  • Support the business with the development and updating of its financial strategy
  • Ensure compliance with all financial, tax and regulatory legislation and reporting
  • Oversee payroll and related benefits providers for both jurisdictions
  • Assist with management and oversight of suppliers, ensuring timely payment of invoices
  • Undertake general management and control support for the business
  • Undertake any ad hoc project work that may be required
  • Take responsibility for company secretarial duties for the UK entities
  • Meet the requirements in relation to CPD

The candidate

You will be a fully qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accountant ideally with experience in senior stakeholder engagement within an FCA regulated business, preferably wealth management. You will have excellent communication and people skills and will not be afraid of explaining technical concepts in a straightforward manner to senior stakeholders.

Experience of wealth management or other FCA regulated businesses would be highly beneficial. A deep understanding of accounting complicated P&Ls across a range of varied businesses is essential.
