Financial Controller

Hereford (predominantly office-based)

£60,000 to £70,000 plus bonus

Our successful, Hereford-based, service sector client requires a Financial Controller. This is a number one finance role that could progress in to Finance Director in the short to medium term. A hands-on position, guiding the team, providing stewardship of the finance function and acting as a sounding board to the MD on a range of matters.

Role responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Production of annual financial statements and Group consolidation
  • All financial reporting and cash flow management
  • Management/oversight of payroll, IT and other administrative functions
  • Leading and developing a medium-sized team
  • Managing the Group annual audit
  • Process improvements and ensuring robust financial controls are in place
  • Processing Group VAT returns

What’s needed

  • Qualified or qualified by experience candidate with broad finance experience
  • Unafraid to roll sleeves up and get stuck in
  • Someone who will grow to care about the business and have a commitment to exceptional customer service
  • Good level of proficiency with Excel
  • Can produce good quality financial analysis and convey meaning and insights to non-finance colleagues
  • Able to wear a number of different hats, not just a Finance one
  • Experience with systems implementations would be useful
  • Someone who is happy to be predominantly office-based
