Are you an experienced senior finance professional? Do you hold a relevant finance qualification? Have you worked in a finance role within an engineering or manufacturing environment? If so, our client, a specialist engineering business, is recruiting for a Financial Controller for their site in Aston. The role will involve leading the company’s financial accounting, reporting and control activities and ensuring that they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with best practice.

Job Description
  • Ensuring accurate and timely completion of group Cognos reporting, monthly management accounts, and statutory accounts pack for FD review.
  • Maintaining company records, completing balance sheet reconciliations, and preparing VAT returns to meet month-end reporting deadlines.
  • Supporting budget and forecasting activities including cash flow predictions, and reporting budget versus actual spend to identify variances.
  • Overseeing the finance team, managing fixed assets, excess inventory reporting, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and external audits.
  • Acting as the main liaison for auditors and bank managers, and assisting with general business queries, new contracts, and supplier statement reconciliations.

Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications
  • Holder of a relevant finance qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, etc)
  • Previous experience of working in a relevant finance role within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Background in auditing and experience leading month end and year end audits
  • Previous experience managing internal business controls
