Job Title: Financial Controller

Location: London, England

Job Summary: Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Financial Controller to oversee all financial control activities and ensure robust financial management within the club. The successful candidate will report directly to the CFO and play a critical role in driving financial excellence. A professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and produce monthly management accounts
  • Conduct monthly budget variance analysis
  • Produce annual forecasts with quarterly reforecasting
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations
  • Manage weekly pay run uploads and bank approvals
  • Process payroll and handle pension submissions
  • Supervise and develop the finance team
  • Oversee audits and liaise with external auditors
  • Submit audited accounts to FCA and Charities Commission
  • Manage cash flow, debt collection, and P11D reporting
  • Support financial strategy and decision-making
  • Improve operations and accounting systems
  • Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations
  • Present reports to board members and senior executives

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience
  • Proficiency with accounting software and financial reporting tools, particularly Xero
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Leadership experience in finance teams
  • Experience in the sports, leisure, or hospitality sector is advantageous
