We’re searching for a Quality Manager with demonstrable experience in Quality Assurance and food manufacturing to lead a dedicated team within a global manufacturer based in Harrogate.

Key Benefits:

The Role

Working autonomously under the Quality & Food Safety Manager, the successful candidate will oversee the quality assurance of all products and packaging. You will manage, coach and develop a team of QA Technicians; ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety and legal requirements; manage the microbiological lab, and maintain and continuously improve all food safety and quality systems, ensuring the facility meets FSSC 22000 standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with operational teams to ensure a consistent and high standard of production.
  • Resolving non-conformances and food safety risks efficiently and effectively.
  • Manage and develop the quality manual, acting as HACCP deputy team leader.
  • Develop and maintain internal technical KPI reports.
  • Oversee the quality function to uphold the FSSC 22000 GFSI standard.
  • Ensure all product testing schedules are met.
  • Manage calibration and maintenance programs for lab equipment.
  • Lead the product control positive release system.
  • Develop and mentor Quality Assurance Technicians.
  • Provide technical expertise and stand in for the QFS Manager when needed.
  • Proactively lead and champion a culture of quality and food safety.
  • Ensure the site is set for audits and managing the internal audit team throughout this process.

Key Skills:

  • 3+ years Quality Management experience in food manufacturing
  • Degree in Food Quality, Chemistry or Microbiology or similar
  • HACCP, Food Safety and a recognised auditing qualification
  • Working knowledge of GFSI standards
  • Prior experience in chemical and microbiological laboratory management
  • Proven track record in training and developing Quality Assurance Technicians.
