Food Teacher - Secondary School - Felbridge
The secondary school I am working with is a forward-thinking school dedicated to providing a well-rounded education that prepares students for their future endeavours. They are committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive environment where both students and staff can thrive.
They are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Food Teacher to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging food and nutrition lessons to students in Key Stages 3 and 4, and potentially Key Stage 5. This role involves developing inspiring lesson plans, assessing student progress, and contributing to the wider school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging food and nutrition lessons that cater to a diverse range of learning styles and abilities.
- Develop and implement a curriculum that meets the educational standards and requirements of the school and the national curriculum.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help students achieve their full potential.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love of learning.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to enhance the learning experience.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Ensure the safe and effective use of food technology equipment and materials.
- Promote healthy eating habits and knowledge of food safety among students.
- Participate in departmental meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and initiatives.
- Support extracurricular activities and school events as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related field.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Proven experience teaching food and nutrition at the secondary school level.
- Strong knowledge of the food and nutrition curriculum and assessment frameworks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
