Food Technology Teacher/ Instructor

We are seeking a dedicated Food Technology Instructor with a strong track record of delivering successful outcomes to students under 16, including those with ASD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and ADHD. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the academic requirements for traineeships, further education, and DfE-registered independent special schools, and have experience with Ofsted inspections.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons, incorporating differentiated teaching to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Develop and manage the core Food Technology curriculum, ensuring it caters to all students.
  • Prepare pupils for external exams, including GCSEs and Functional Skills, and oversee examination arrangements.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to the co-curricular life of the school.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the personal, learning, and work needs of young people.
  • Maintain good order and discipline, ensuring the health and safety of students in your care.
  • Support learners with a range of differentiation tools, diagnostic tools, and assessment methods.
  • Act as a personal tutor, helping students manage their own learning and achieve their potential.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in delivering Food Technology education to diverse student groups.
  • Familiarity with the requirements of Ofsted and experience with inspections.
  • Ability to work with vulnerable groups and provide both educational and pastoral support.
  • Willingness to teach other subjects and engage in activities beyond the core role for professional development.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to maintain neat, trackable, and auditable work.
  • Competence in lesson planning, tracking progress, and setting clear learning objectives.
  • Ability to work independently with regular appraisal.
