Food & Textiles Technician

The main purpose of role:

Assisting teachers in the Design & Technology classrooms, providing administration support, and preparing lesson plans

The use of materials and equipment to support the teaching and learning process.

Working in the Food and Textiles Department, you will be responsible for:

  • Knowledgeable about the Health and Safety issues associated with Food & Technology
  • Provide support to teaching staff in the classroom
  • Ensure that class materials and equipment are prepared
  • Maintain a clean environment in the classroom at all times
  • Prepare resources and materials for display
  • Maintain resources, display and equipment
  • Undertake administrative duties within the department including the use of ICT
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the department
  • Have practical skills to support work within the food and textiles department.
  • Be able to join the team with students on educational visits.

We are looking for a candidate who-

  • Possesses the relevant experience/skills/experience needed
  • Desirable if you have a catering or food science background
  • Is self-motivated and has ability to work independently
  • Enjoy working with 11-18 year old students
  • Is a good team player
  • Is able to work flexible hours and days
  • Is physically fit- The work does involve carrying materials up and down stairs.
  • Is willing to learn
  • Has excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Can use ICT and support others with their skills.
