A Leading National l civil engineering contractor are recruiting a General Foreman to join their busy Southeastern Division.

Initially, the successful candidate will be working nights on a highways and drainage project in the Eastbourne area.

Beyond this, their will be an opportunity for long term work on days and in the region broadly covering East Sussex and Kent and working primarily on highways and drainage projects.

The successful candidate will have experience of delivering civil engineering projects.

You will be required to make decisions, motivate the team and drive the project towards a timely and profitable finish.

Duties include:

  • Ordering plant, labour and materials
  • Leading toolbox talks, daily briefings and site inductions
  • Working with the Site Agent and commercial team to raise early warning notices
  • Promote the highest levels of health and safety on site
  • Liaise with stakeholders on public facing projects
  • Ensure your work force is working safely, effectively and efficiently
  • Reading drawings with the site engineer to coordinate gangs and overcome design difficulties
  • Ensure risk assessments and method statements and being adhered to
