Location: Leeds, Thorpe Park, Hybrid working.

Working alongside the Data Management Team Lead, the Data Engineer will look to perform a variety of tasks that will ensure the data community have the data used in our everyday decision making through the delivery of final state 'data products' within a governed manner.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships within the business and developer and deploy data pipelines in a governed manner, ensuring that outputs meet key business objectives. Truly showcasing the value of data.
  • You will work alongside a team including other data engineers, data scientists and data visualisation specialists.
  • Data Delivery: be responsible for delivery of complex data solutions including the ingest of data from a wide variety of data sources into our analytics platforms (typically cloud-based but also on-premise), transformation and cleansing data.
  • Drive a data-first culture both within the data team and across the business, developing others around you.

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
  • Creative mind-set, ability to think out side the box
  • Knowledge of / experience using Databricks/Azure Data Factory/SQL/Python
  • The ability to communicate with diverse stakeholder groups, including senior management, and demonstrated ability to influence individuals beyond your own department.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, intellectual curiosity, creativity, ambiguity tolerance, and a willingness to keep looking for better answers
  • Drive to tackle demanding goals with enthusiasm, tenacity in the face of stubborn obstacles, and interest in pursuing strategies for personal and technical development alongside other commitments
  • Proven ability to quickly learn, apply and teach new technical skills
