Empowering Learning is recruiting Psychology & Sociology Graduates to work full-time as Learning Support Assistants within mainstream schools across Barking and Dagenham. You will support pupils with various SEND needs, primarily teaching positive behaviour approaches.
Students with SEND who attend mainstream schools typically have mild ASD and SEMH needs.
This position will provide valuable classroom-based experience working as a 1:1 support assistant, which is beneficial for anyone considering a future in teaching.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and hands-on individual who can take direction and lead when necessary.

Job Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with SEN including ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties.
- Supervising pupil's behaviour
- Encourage and support the pupils learning and development
- Support social interaction
- Helping the teacher prepare for lessons and plan activities

Job Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young adults with learning difficulties or disabilities is desirable
- Ability to stay calm and de-escalate challenging behaviour
- Valid DBS registered with the online update service or willingness to apply for a new one
- Ability to work Monday to Friday 8.30-5.30
