Grants Operations Manager

London, Birmingham or Leeds - Hybrid

£37251 - £41775

This role can be based from any of the offices above. Our client, a grant giving charity, that works to give young people from marginalised and/or disadvantaged backgrounds access to good quality jobs and careers, and help keep them.

They are looking for a Grants Operations Manager to deliver on their ambitions for building robust processes and systems that underpin our innovative, transparent and fair grant-making approach that will ensure successful applicants are supported to deliver high quality, impactful projects.

Key responsibilities

An experienced line manager and coach, you will support and develop of two Grants Officers. Ensuring the smooth and effective running of our grant making operations across the directorate and the full grant making life cycle including finance, application processes, management and monitoring systems.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Passionate about developing people, processes and systems
  2. Run the Blackbaud Grant Management System
  3. Co-ordinate internal audit functions and facilitate external audits of the funding.
  4. Manage the contract with the external grant administration partner
  5. Deliver on the execution of the grant making policies, in line with good governance principles and best practice
  6. Coordinate the whole lifecycle of grant making (pre-application, assessment, decision making, grant management, and learning), placing young people and the organisations working with them at the heart of what we do
  7. Responsible for the management and work of a highly effective grants team,
  8. Supporting the development of a team culture centred on continuous improvement and innovation
  9. Ensure grants and social investments are informed by, and influence, Youth Futures wider work, including:
  10. Provide support to the Finance & Operations team in monitoring and tracking expenditures by grant

About you -

You will have experience of running a blackbaud (or similar) grant management system

  • Experience of managing complex grants
  • Able to efficiently administer the end to end grants application process including; assessment of grant applications, presenting recommendations to the Grants Committee; undertaking visits and meetings with potential grantees, and all associated reporting.
  • Knowledge of developing, improving and creating grant making software
  • Experience of monitoring grants to track value for money and performance
  • Experience of setting up and working with complex processes, budgets, cash flow and performance indicator, and taking remedial action when needed
  • Prior experience of supporting both internal and external audits
  • Prior management experience
  • Understanding young peoples' lives, employment, the not-for-profit sector and related government policy
