We are seeking a Handy Person to join our team, providing essential maintenance services at our Care Leavers sites in Sheffield. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a new service model, offering semi-independent accommodation and support to young people with high support needs. The role is city-wide and involves working closely with partners to ensure a diverse mix of accommodation options for Care Leavers.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Carry out routine repair and maintenance jobs across various sites.
  • Perform minor repairs to buildings, furniture, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with housing teams to ensure flats are prepared and ready for occupancy by young people.
  • Support young people with household maintenance and decorating tasks.
  • Provide advice and guidance to young people regarding household maintenance.
  • Serve as a point of contact for young people for any maintenance-related queries.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a similar handy person or maintenance role.
  • Ability to carry out a range of minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with young people and team members.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
  • A commitment to supporting young people and understanding their needs.
