Our client is a boutique accountancy, audit, tax, and corporate finance practice specialising in a vibrant industry. With the distinction of being the sole practice in the UK with a thriving regulatory department within their field, they are at the forefront of what they do.

Head of Accounts Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Oversight: Manage a substantial portfolio comprising 600 SME Corporate and 500 Self-Assessment and Partnership Clients. Effectively allocate resources and ensure timely completion of accounting and taxation tasks.
  • Client Engagement: Foster strong relationships with clients and relevant third parties, enhancing our commitment to personalised service.
  • Team Leadership: Lead on-site SME teams, review workbooks, and address queries to maintain the highest work standards.
  • Job Progression: Drive the completion of assignments for partner review, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budgets.
  • Quality Assurance: Uphold our commitment to excellence by providing training, development, and supervision to trainee staff.
  • Client Diversity: Manage a broad client base, ranging from self-employed businesses to large corporate clients.
  • Accounting Expertise: Utilise accounting software packages (e.g., Sage, Quickbooks) for report generation and financial statement compilation.
  • Statutory Reporting: Prepare financial statements, including those for limited companies and groups, in accordance with FRS102 and FRS105.
  • Software Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in IT tools such as VT, IRIS, and Sage.
  • Tax Compliance: Prepare tax returns for corporate entities, sole proprietors, partnerships, and LLP partnerships.
  • Mentorship: Review work performed by junior staff and provide guidance in preparation tasks.
  • Client Communication: Effectively communicate with clients through written, oral, and email correspondence.
  • Audit Support: Assist with audit assignments, contributing to the overall success of the practice.

Head of Accounts Required Skills, Attributes & Qualifications:

  • Professional Qualification: ACA/ACCA qualified with a strong accounting and practice background.
  • Statutory Accounting: Detailed experience in preparing statutory accounts, adhering to current accounting standards.
  • Technical Proficiency: Intermediate/Advanced user of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, essential for interactions with senior staff and clients.
  • Initiative: Motivated to assume responsibility and consistently deliver high-quality service.
