The Opportunity:
Schools Plus are a leading and long standing social enterprise, committed to generating additional revenue for schools through maximising educational facilities. Since being founded in 2004, they have generated over £30m for their partner schools through out of hours facility rentals helping improve their financial stability.
Nigel Wright Group are immensely proud to be exclusively partnering with Schools Plus in their search for a Head of Commercial. This is a brand new role and is crucial in driving the ambitious growth plans. The Head of Commercial will be responsible for managing the commercial team which consists of Customer Service, Marketing, Account Management and Client Acquisition. The role is remote with regular travel around the UK
Role Profile:
• Take personal ownership of the company’s commercial targets and goals and be answerable for delivering them
• Define commercial go to market plans that will achieve the commercial targets, including every aspect of the marketing mix
• Effectively manage the entire commercial team, recruiting additional resource where required
• Correctly set targets, relentlessly track the sales data and other performance metrics, hold everyone to account for achieving them, all the time.
• Take personal responsibility for the highest value opportunities and secure them for the company.
• Provide outstanding, motivational line management for your direct reports in a Traction-compliant fashion; ensure that your direct reports manage their teams in this way too.
Person Specification:
• Dynamic, positive, contributing individual
• Previous track record of achieving and exceeding individual targets
• An impressive record leading commercial teams to delivering outstanding results.
• Ability to build and manage B2B relationships at a senior level ideally in education sector (schools/MATS)
• Understanding of the education sector is advantageous but not essential
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills that enable you to build long-term business relationships with top client and customer executives
• Ability to inspire a team to deliver beyond their own expectations, and to communicate your messages inspirationally across the business
• Exceptionally well organised and determined, enabling you to keep all the moving parts of your department relentlessly on track, all the time
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset
• Enthusiastic about travelling occasionally but extensively to meet key clients, customers and colleagues in person; and to visit schools to stay connected with the business on the ground
