We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring Head of Drama to lead our Drama Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing all aspects of the Drama curriculum within the Academy, providing high-quality leadership, and contributing to the overall leadership capacity of the Academy.
Day to Day of the Role:
- Deliver high-quality and successful Drama lessons to all age groups.
- Serve as an exemplary role model in all aspects of classroom practice.
- Lead the development of high-quality learning and teaching within the Drama Department through coaching and training.
- Monitor progress and attainment, using data to drive departmental improvement.
- Share good practice and foster dialogue about learning and teaching within the department.
- Plan and supervise theatre visits and contribute to Drama enrichment activities, including Academy productions.
- Maintain Drama spaces, ensuring the safe use and storage of equipment.
- Lead the creation and delivery of a rigorous, challenging, and personalised curriculum.
- Engage in curriculum development to ensure relevance to student needs and alignment with examining and awarding bodies.
- Respond to national developments in Drama education and teaching methodologies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- A proven track record of effective teaching and learning within Drama.
- Experience in leading a team or department, with the ability to raise attainment and progress.
- Strong understanding of curriculum design and development.
- Ability to use research and evidence to inform teaching practices.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills, with the capacity to manage change effectively.
- Commitment to professional development, both personally and for the department.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
