We are recruiting on behalf on our client, who are an established Manufacturing company in South Wales. They are looking for a driven and highly experienced Head of Engineering / Chief Engineer to join their team.

Within your role, your key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to;

Role Specific:

Responsible for all areas of the site Engineering and Maintenance function, quality of service delivery, striving for best-in-class performance and business practices to deliver customer expectations.

Lead the engineering department, managers and engineers across a 24 / 7, 365-day operation.

Ensure health, safety and environmental issues are prioritised, whilst facilitating implementation of a lean business strategy driving continuous improvement across all engineering related areas of the business.

Ensure high availability of Plant Hire. PPM and reactive maintenance activities as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy and Development:

· Overall responsibility for Engineering activities across the site.

· Create and implement best practice engineering vision, strategy. policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance.

· Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities.

· Providing technical support to the business development, estimating and onsite engineering teams

· Responsible for overseeing all aspects of EPCM, from contract award to handover.

· Develop planning and prioritise processes to ensure that multi-disciplinary resource is well aligned to maximise Operational delivery.

· Initiate and develop creative and innovative engineering processes.

· Take ownership of the engineering policies, guidelines, and any associated documents.

· Lead the preparation of technical and contract documentation for issue and analysis of returned tenders.

· Assisting projects with value engineering and financial control of contracts during construction stage.

· Ensure any new equipment or engineering activity is supported with appropriate qualification documentation and that this is appropriately stored.

· Ensure up to date site drawings are maintained appropriately.

· Coordinate with Operations to ensure quality, safety and environmental standards and achieving cost targets in a timely fashion.

· Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders. regarding technical support of their activities.

· Drive Key Performance Indicators across all areas of the Engineering function to ensure that all projects and works are delivered on cost and on time to the highest quality standards.

· Support project management to cross functional activity required for project execution.

· Operate a process for safe selection of external contractors ensuring all external contracts are regularly reviewed to ensure best value.

· Report on Engineering activities on a regular basis to the Site Director.

· Prepares and implements the department budget.

· Management team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the relevant

· To conduct any other reasonable duties as requested by your manager.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, experience and attributes:

1. Educated to degree level (preferably Masters) in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent NVQ Level 7 qualification in the manufacturing/heavy industry environment.

2. Pre- Fellow or Chartered Member of an industry related Professional Body.

1. Experience in Lean, Kaizen. and 5s is desirable.

2. Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimise your team.

3. Demonstrable experience of leading an engineering function with a proven track record in strategic engineering leadership.

4. Extensive relevant track record illustrating technical experience and skills.

5. Demonstratable track record in PPM and Reactive Maintenance.

1. Strong and confident negotiator with the ability to negotiate at all levels.

2. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

3. Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.

4. Commercially and financially astute with experience of. managing budgets.

2. Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers.

3. Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £68,000.00-£75,000.00 per year
