My client are currently seeking a Head of Health and Safety to join the senior management team. You will be required to use your experience and skills to strengthen the health and safety across the business. You will develop policies and procedures to; ensure people safety, boost employee wellbeing, and provide guidance on how to comply with all relevant legislation.
You will be responsible for the effective communication and professional advice, guidance and support to the project teams, and other departments (including pre-construction, commercial, lettings and HR).
My client delivers large scale design and build projects from £22million through to projects over £150million. They have an excellent pipeline of secured works within the north west region.

The role responsibilities are listed below

• Lead the development of a proactive safety culture within the organisation
• Provide effective communications and professional advice, guidance and support to the project teams, and other departments (including pre-construction, commercial, lettings and HR)
• Monitor, review, prepare and publish policies and procedures; ensuring they are implemented, understood and complied with
• Lead the integration of best practice and risk management principles into our activities, facilitating continuous improvement in standards and performance
• Lead in the management and reporting of HS&W related risks and opportunities
• Develop KPI's and management reports detailing progress against agreed targets and objectives
• Identify hazards associated with company activities and lead the development of generic or specialised risk assessments which address key risks to those who may be affected. Develop and facilitate the introduction of relevant control measures and lead periodic reviews to ensure they remain suitable and sufficient
• Compile and manage the delivery of the annual audit plan to assess the effectiveness of adherence to the safety management system
• Lead the development and delivery of HS&W training. Monitor the quality and effectiveness of delivery and undertake the training needs analysis
• Liaise with Human Resources and Occupational Health Service provider(s) to ensure that all activities giving rise to occupational health issues are identified. Lead in the development and maintenance of health standards and supporting health surveillance programme
• Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the industry

Requirements
• Previous Health & Safety management experience within the Construction Industry
• NEBOSH - Construction Certificate Ideally
• NEBOSH - General also considered
