Purpose of Role:You will be managing the team responsible for pricing strategy and solutions, help to shape the customer proposition and enable the commercial and strategic plans. Using a hands-on approach, you will design the company pricing strategy, motivate and develop the team using industry leading techniques to ensure the company has the right prices and proposition for their customers, identify market trends and use insight and pricing techniques to optimise margins and sales

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement pricing and promotional strategies as part of the broader customer proposition and track the initiatives' financial effectiveness to continuously improve execution
  • Typical analyses would include: analysis of sales trends and historical patterns, assessment of competitors and the wider market, reviews of price elasticities to tactically optimise sales and margin and regular reviews of cost increases to identify SKUs below acceptable margin levels and recommend actions
  • Operate a weekly, monthly and annual calendar to ensure the pricing strategy is responsive to supplier, competitor and customer trends and demands
  • Implement appropriate pricing and promotions governance across the business
  • Support the sales team with pricing exercises for tenders
  • Define appropriate pricing tools for the business
  • Support the broader commercial function, taking responsibility to ensure cost of goods, selling prices and all other product attributes are reflected correctly in all systems
  • Use your experience of pricing best practice to inform your decisions and to give your team the best opportunities to succeed, investing time to train them and fill business wide knowledge gaps
  • Leading internal cross functional and 3rd party projects, working with insights and agencies to inform the commercial strategy
  • Take an avid interest in wider activities across the business to support your function, decision making and business-wide programmes

Skills Required:

  • High level of numerical and analytical skills essential - strong Excel modelling
  • Power Query / Power BI strongly preferred
  • Creating compelling solutions and crafting clear communications - excellent PowerPoint
  • Full understanding of all relevant SOPs within the quality manual
  • Deep understanding of core processes and system interfaces
  • Strong strategic, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Stakeholder management experience
  • Commercial instinct to understand key business drivers

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 8-10 years working experience across sales and commercial finance or pricing and revenue growth management role
  • Ideally prior experience is in consulting, retail, wholesale, consumer goods or other related industry
  • Experience of developing pricing strategy and managing pricing operations in a high SKU (e.g. 5k + unique SKUs) count business
