Head of Service who is registered with Social Work England, has experience of management and leadership across a range of service areas and of working within a statutory setting as a social work manager/leader is required for well-established organisation based in Wokingham.

This role is known within the organisation as Head of Service - Helping Early, Community & Prevention

SALARY: £72,438 - £79,458per annum (including market supplement) + Excellent Benefits

LOCATION: Hybrid role - working part from home and part from the office in Wokingham

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Head of Service who is registered with Social Work England, has experience of management and leadership across a range of service areas and of working within a statutory setting as a social work manager/leader.

Working as the Head of Service you will be an inspiring and innovative practice leader in this newly created role, leading on strategy and activity within the organisation and across its’ partners. You will ensure there is a robust, evidence-based and transformative approach taken to delivering Prevention and Early Help Services which support families, children and young people.

As the Head of Service you will offer creative, skilled and professionally competent leadership across all aspects of Helping Early, Community and Prevention, which includes early help (Children Centres, family time/contact centre and targeted whole family work), Youth Justice Services and the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub, the 'Front Door’ to Children’s Services.

You will lead on all duties required by legislation, regulation and practice guidance, ensuring that children receive the right support at the right time. Leading early intervention and prevention and the development of partnership working for universal and targeted community-based services, with colleagues, statutory and voluntary partners.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Head of Service include:

  • Lead on the development of preventative services and partnership working
  • Accountable for the delivery of high quality and effective early intervention and prevention services in respect of children and their families
  • Manage all resources within the area in an efficient, effective, and economic manner within a framework of corporate and departmental policies and priorities
  • Ensure that prevention targets and performance measures are achieved, as agreed by the organisation and local area
  • To horizon-scan and brief the senior leadership team on policy and regulatory changes; identify resultant gaps and address them, ensuring all staff are briefed on change
  • Work with the regulator and lead the service though inspection and review from OFSTED, HMIP and CQC
  • Work collaboratively with key partners and stakeholders to further develop an effective integrated multi-disciplinary offer of support
  • Demonstrate leadership though embedding the Practice and Quality Assurance Framework and its connectedness to supporting the delivery of high-quality services for children

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Comprehensive understanding of Children Act 1989 and other relevant regulations and guidance
  • Experience of working within a statutory setting as a social work manager/leader
  • Experience of management and leadership across a range of service areas
  • Partnership working, stakeholder management, internal and external
  • Degree Level and/or Management Level Qualification highly desirable
