We are seeking an exceptional individual to join us as Head of the Vice Chancellor’s Office. This is an exciting opportunity to support the Vice Chancellor, Professor Katie Normington, with the operational running and strategic direction of the university, and make a real and significant different to our university as we implement our Empowering University strategy.

Role

The postholder will manage the Vice Chancellor’s Office and ensure that it runs smoothly and effectively. They will work with a range of stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally, to deliver and coordinate the work of the Vice Chancellor. The post also involves providing briefings and reports the Vice Chancellor and other senior staff on a variety of topical issues and policy developments that affect the strategy of the university. The postholder will represent the university at the highest level and articulate the views of the Vice Chancellor and other senior colleagues where appropriate.

The role can be completed on a hybrid basis. We would expect you to be on campus on average 3 days per week however, there does need to be some flexibility with this.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree or equivalent experience. They will have signicant experience of working either as a Chief of Staff or in public sector administration. The ability to work with internal and external stakeholders at the highest level, and to work strategically, horizon scanning to anticipate developments, are also essential.
