Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor

Location: Salford

Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 + Vehicle

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Excalon was established in 2002. With recent new business wins with multiple major clients adding to our existing portfolio of framework agreements and ongoing Major Projects, this is a particularly exciting time to join our business.

About the role:

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Advisor to work within our Health & Safety department. Reporting to the Head of SHEQ, you will be trained, developed, and mentored to ensure the Company meets all its health and safety responsibilities and legislative requirements.

About you

Most importantly, we are looking for a driven and enthusiastic individual who is keen to learn and develop. This is a great opportunity for someone at the start of their Health and Safety career who has already completed their NEBOSH and may be taking their first step from a trainee to advisor role.

We welcome applications from a qualified individual or those now available through a military re-settlement programme. We operate in a very exciting and interesting sector so this is a rare opportunity for the right candidate.

You will undergo training and development and will be coached and mentored to carry out the following key accountabilities:

Key accountabilities

  • Promote a positive safety-first culture across the business
  • Represent the Company in all Safety, Health, Environmental, Sustainability and Quality matters internally and externally, when required
  • Provide competent advice and guidance on Health and Safety issues, driving best practice and a 'safety first' culture across the business
  • Assist with all Health & Safety matters on Projects to meet the contract and business needs and objectives.
  • Assist with the development and review of the CPP and RAMS for projects before they are issued for Construction
  • Create CDM files for projects
  • Conduct monthly site inspections\audits including overall H&S, Environmental and individual
  • Assist the project managers with any additional safety documents where required
  • Review third party safety documents including subcontractor documentation and RAMS
  • Carry out company inductions of new personnel at site and at HQ
  • To carry out internal audits in accordance with the audit programme
  • Attend site progress meetings and client meets
  • Assist SHEQ team with external accreditations ISO 9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, NERS, Achilles
  • Report/update Head of SHEQ with progress
  • Prepare and distribute lessons learnt/ Toolbox talks;
  • Travel to multiple sites required - mixed office and site-based role
  • Willingness to occasionally stay away from home if required- (accommodation provided)

Travel and Flexibility

You will be required to travel to multiple sites from your office base and be willing to stay overnight on occasion if required to meet the needs of the business.

Hours of Work

You will be required to work 40 hours from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm though some flexibility will be required to cover shifts within the working window of 7am and 5pm.
