Role: Health and Safety Technician
Location: Highland but required to visit various locations across Sutherland, Caithness and Ross Shire
Salary: £29,047 to £32,359 p.a.
Contract: 6 months
Hours: 35 hours per week
We are looking for a Health and Safety Technician to join our client's team and assist the Roads Operations Managers and Senior Engineer in ensuring safe and compliant road maintenance activities across the Highland area. This role involves collaborating with the Occupational Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Team, supporting area teams, and maintaining essential safety documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team.
- Assist area teams in developing Risk Assessments and Method Statements for all roads maintenance activities.
- Monitor and assist in the annual review of Risk Assessments.
- Support the development of Toolbox Talks for road maintenance activities.
- Develop and maintain a Roads Health and Safety SharePoint document library.
- Maintain a Roads HAVs database for equipment.
- Ensure documentation is up to date using the latest technology.
- Develop and maintain a Health & Safety Induction for Roads Operatives.
- Coordinate and deliver Toolbox Talks, ensuring attendance is recorded.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Experience working in a construction environment.
- Familiarity with preparing Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Toolbox Talks.
- A valid driving licence.
- Strong ability to plan and organize activities to meet deadlines.
- Flexibility in responding to and identifying changing priorities.
- Competence in using technical and statistical information.
- Proficiency in IT with the ability to make the best use of ICT tools.
- A logical problem solver with a commitment to public service.
- Focused on achieving targets and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
