Greenford, London

We welcome applications from everyone irrespective of ethnicity or gender, but as members of ethnic minority groups and women are currently under-represented in the co-op, we particularly encourage applications from women and ethnic minority candidates. Appointment will be based on merit alone.

About us

Here at Suma, we’ve been doing things a bit differently for over 40 years. Not only in our mission to supply everything vegetarian, ethical and sustainable, but also in how we run our successful business.

Suma is a worker co-operative; a business owned and run by nearly 200 members who work here. We’re a group of ordinary people who have built a business on principles of integrity and equality. Suma workers work together collectively to set the direction of the business - there are no shareholders and no traditional 'bosses’. Everyone at Suma gets paid the same wage, takes personal and equal responsibility and does a range of different jobs each week.

We are currently looking for an HGV Driver to join us on full-time basis for fixed term contract of 12 months. A route to permanent employment is available through gaining membership of our co-operative.

The Benefits

- Salary of £17.24 per hour, with £9 a day expenses and paid lunch break
- £37,859 - £46,822 per annum
- Generous holiday entitlement - 38 days for a full time worker
- Staff discount on goods Suma sell
- Free meals whilst on-site
- Overtime can be taken as pay or time off in lieu
- Access to occupational sick pay

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated HGV Driver who shares our commitment to fair trade values and ethics to join our co-operative organisation as we deliver nourishing organic vegetarian food across the UK.

When you join us, you will discover a close knit team, who share a vision of a fair and environmentally conscious way of doing business, and, with our flat managerial structure, you can be sure that your voice will be heard and respected.

So, if you have been waiting to drive for a company that are very much driven by their ethics, then don’t hesitate and apply today!

The Role

As an HGV Driver, you will provide a crucial link between Suma and our customers, by delivering and collecting goods efficiently and safely, ensuring our customers receive excellent customer service.

You will complete all necessary paperwork and identify any defects and provide feedback to your co-ordinator.

Following all procedures as set out by Suma and external authorities relating to safe and legal driving, you will also ensure that our vehicles remain roadworthy and safe, raising issues where required.

About You

To be considered as an HGV Driver, you will need:

- Experience driving an HGV vehicle to conduct deliveries and collections
- Excellent communication skills
- A valid HGV licence

Other organisations might call this role HGV Driver Class 2, Lorry Driver, Delivery Driver, or Collections Driver.
