A client based in Dartford Kent is recruiting for a HGV Driver, Class 2

40 hours per week - 06:30am-15:30pm

MAIN DUTIES

Vehicle and Load Preparation

  • Complete vehicle daily walk-around checks and notify the transport office of any defects immediately.
  • Load vehicle ensuring everything is secured correctly and in a way as not to damage the goods.
  • Ensure you load and unload the correct goods for each delivery.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle cab and load area.

Driving and Delivery

  • Drive the vehicle safely and in compliance with the relevant rules and regulations.
  • Abide by Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 (EU drivers hours rules).
  • Abide by the road transport directive.
  • Carry out multi-drop deliveries in a timely and safe manner.
  • Ensure that on arrival the delivery is safe to make and respect customer’s property; if in doubt, consult with the customer and/or Transport office.
  • Mark jobs as started, arrived, and delivered via Max Optra to update customers and the sales teams.
  • Obtain electronic PODs via Max Optra for every delivery/collection.

Customer Service

  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Handle customer issues on delivery effectively and contact the transport office/sales teams for assistance if required.

Post-Delivery and Reporting

  • Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the Company’s accident reporting procedure.
  • Look after the vehicle ensuring no unnecessary damage is caused.
  • Keep incidents to a minimum by practicing defensive driving.
  • Act as a porter when driving is not required.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Licensing and Qualifications

  • Cat C licence entitlement.
  • Valid CPC.
  • Experience of HGV driving experience, hold a clean driving licence, and a current driver qualification card.
  • FORS training ideal but not essential

Experience and Skills

  • Experience driving in and around London is vital.
  • Ability to handle heavy/large goods.
  • Numerate & literate.
