The starting salary for this role is £52,047 per annum based on a 36-hour working week. This is a 12-month fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity until 31st March 2026.

We are excited to be hiring a High Growth Enterprise Mentor to join our fantastic team and support Surrey businesses to grow and thrive.

The role is hybrid with at least one day in Woodhatch (usually Tuesday), combined with regular attendance at meetings, workshops and events across the county.

About the Team

The Economy and Growth team focuses on sustainable economic development across Surrey, working as 'One Council' to grow a sustainable economy and ensure no one is left behind. We provide strategic services in business support, innovation, skills, and places for the benefit of Surrey's 1.2 million residents. We collaborate with partners and major employers like Amazon, Asahi, WWF-UK, Samsung, and McLaren to champion and futureproof Surrey's leading regional economy, home to 110,000 businesses contributing £50 billion annually to the UK economy.

With a highly skilled workforce, respected educational and research institutions, and an enviable location, Surrey excels in sectors such as creative industries, cybersecurity, gaming, and health. About the Role

As a High Growth Enterprise Mentor, you will be a trusted voice, regularly undertaking detailed and complex business diagnostic reviews. You will deliver specialist business advice and support to high value digital and tech businesses that have the potential to increase their productivity and create new jobs.

You will work horizontally with colleagues across the Economy and Growth service to achieve a number of economic outcomes across a range of projects. It will also seek to shape the business support landscape in Surrey and nationally so that it meets the needs of Surrey businesses.

You will have a very strong understanding of the range of business support services available, being able to identify which can unlock opportunities for high value businesses with growth potential.

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Excellent understanding of the issues, opportunities, and challenges facing high-value, high-tech businesses with growth potential
  • Ability to apply this understanding to unlock productivity and support job creation
  • Experience working across different departments within the council and with external providers
  • Strong collaboration skills to deliver improved outcomes for businesses and residents
  • Outcomes-focused and ambitious approach, proactively working with others to adopt horizontal ways of working and contribute to the delivery of economic outcomes and a One Council approach.
