Highway Operatives

Our very well established client in Winscombe (North Somerset), has an exciting opportunity for Highway Operatives to join their team on a permanent basis.

Job Purpose:
You will be a part of a 2/3-person team to carry out a range of services including kerbing, hot & cold lay patching, erecting & dismantling fencing and signage. Also, to become a member of the Winter Maintenance on the call team for the winter season.

Salary and Hours of Work;

• £24,375.00 - £25,843.00 per year
• 7.30am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operatives will be accountable for carrying out the works given to them by their supervisor or chargehand in a safe, efficient, and timely manner and escalate any issues to their supervisor.
• Will be required to be on emergency and winter standby to meet business needs.
• Attending different locations around the county to carry out tarmac, white works, gully repairs and any other duties that meets company requirements.
• Operating different types of plant and equipment.
• Carry out daily risk assessments, pre site checks & vehicle checks.
• Erection and maintenance of sign, lighting & guarding.
• Take responsibility of vehicles, plant and equipment ensuring they are maintained to a high standard.
• Available to work flexible shifts, including days and nights.
• Opportunity to upskill to become a professional Driver with our in-house Driver Training Academy.

Skills/ Qualifications

• To hold either a CSCS card/NPORS/SSSTS
• To hold a current UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points
• To have experience in highways/construction industry
• Willing to take on additional training
