Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing high-quality lesson plans and curricula from prescribed texts and materials.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to share teaching strategies and classroom management techniques.
  • Delivering captivating history lessons covering various periods, movements, and notable historical figures.
  • Evaluating students' work, including exams, quizzes, assignments, and presentations, and communicating with parents and faculty about student progress and necessary interventions.
  • Arranging guest speakers, events, and educational trips.
  • Staying informed about current events and movements to make historical content relevant.
  • Ensuring compliance with all curriculum, school, and state guidelines.
  • Providing additional support to students who are struggling and extra resources for those with a strong interest in history.
  • Utilizing digital tools to enhance learning and maintain accurate student records.
  • Continuously expanding professional networks and engaging in workshops, lectures, and other educational opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in history or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Relevant certification or licensing as required.
  • Experience as a teaching assistant or similar role is advantageous.
  • A deep passion for history and the ability to inspire students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to connect with young people and create engaging lesson plans.
  • Willingness to work beyond standard hours when necessary.
  • Compassionate and approachable demeanor.
  • Resilience and the ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
