Are you an experienced and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking for an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people?

About the Role:

Tradewind are recruiting on behalf of a new and well respected alternative provision in Sheffield, seeking a dedicated HLTA to join their team in September 2024. This role offers the chance to work in a unique and supportive environment where your contributions will be highly valued. You will be part of a committed team, supporting students who require a tailored approach to education due to a variety of needs, including social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Learning: Assist in planning, delivering, and assessing lessons in collaboration with teachers, ensuring a personalised approach to meet individual student needs.
  • Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral support to students, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
  • Small Group & 1:1 Support: Lead small group sessions and provide 1:1 support where required, focusing on core subjects and personal development.
  • Behavior Management: Implement and support behavior management strategies, helping to create a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to reports for parents and carers.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to develop and deliver effective support plans.

About You:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a HLTA or in a similar role within an alternative provision or special education setting.
  • Qualifications: HLTA status or equivalent qualifications. Additional training in SEMH or behaviour management is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and external agencies.
  • Passion: A genuine passion for working with young people who have complex needs, and the resilience to handle challenging situations with a positive outlook.
  • Commitment: A dedicated professional with a commitment to supporting the educational and personal development of students in alternative provision.
