We are looking for a part time (25 hours per week) Housekeeper to join our small, committed team.

We believe that providing a welcoming, safe environment for our residents is crucial in supporting them to make positive changes to their lives. We are looking for a Housekeeper who can lead on ensuring that this is achieved. As Housekeeper you will need to be proactive in ensuring that regular maintenance and health and safety checks are undertaken, and any identified issues are addressed promptly. You will work closely with our cleaner to ensure bedrooms are made up ready for residents to arrive and preparing move on packs for residents moving into the community.

You will need to be responsible, adaptable, open-minded, and self-motivated, capable of working in a lively environment and sensitive to the needs of others.

You will join an enthusiastic, supportive, and committed team and will receive regular supervision and appropriate training for your particular needs.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Delivery of Services and Standards

  • Oversee the ordering and stock control of all provisions required to operate the Approved Premises, ensuring appropriate stock rotation and labelling of items.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the Approved Premises, with assistance from the cleaner.
  • Ensure resident bedrooms are serviced promptly, in readiness for new arrivals.
  • Complete all periodic tasks, such as flipping mattresses, dusting lampshades, cleaning interior windows and carpet cleaning.
  • Work to daily job lists, arrivals and departures lists.
  • Undertake general caretaking tasks around the Approved Premises, such as the replacement of light bulbs, etc.
  • Liaise with external providers to gain quotes for any repairs/maintenance work that may be required.
  • Keep Managers informed of any maintenance issues that need to be rectified.
  • Test lighting systems weekly, replacing minor parts where necessary in accordance with safe working practices.
  • Complete Health and Safety checks, as required - Legionnaires water checks, quarterly shower disinfection etc.
  • Work as an effective member of the Elizabeth Fry Charity team, in accordance with agreed requirements and objectives.

Management of Physical and Financial Resources

Physical Resources

  • Ensure that any health and safety and/or building maintenance issues are reported to Managers.
  • Follow all health and safety, fire and Elizabeth Fry Charity security procedures.

Financial Resources

  • Monitor the stock level of supplies e.g. cleaning materials, food.

Management of Systems and Information

  • Maintain appropriate stock control systems.
  • Ensure that any food is appropriately labelled, taking into account Food Hygiene regulations.

General

  • Contribute to the induction of new staff.
  • Undertake training, as required by the Charity.
  • Comply with all of Elizabeth Fry Charity policies and expectations.
  • Actively engage in team meetings, practice development meetings, appraisal and supervision meetings with Line Manager and contribute to the business plan.
  • Undertake any other duties requested of you by the management team, to ensure the Approved Premises is able to function as required.

Person Specification

  • Experience of housekeeping or willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge and understanding of professional boundaries
  • A commitment to the work and values of Elizabeth Fry Charity
  • High levels of enthusiasm, self - motivation and a "can do" attitude
  • Enjoys using own initiative.
