Description

The purpose of the role is to provide an excellent service to all customers requiring assistance in helping them meet the costs towards their rent and council tax payment, resolving as many enquiries and assessing as many cases as possible to maximise customer satisfaction.

Role Duties:

  • Agreeing and authorising the assessment of housing Benefit /council tax support
  • Providing services and assessments of benefit to customers through a number of service disciplines to include receiving incoming calls, dealing with face to face appointment, online contact and white mail
  • Setting up council tax accounts and awarding basic discounts and exemptions where appropriate.
  • Setting up payment deduction and issuing invoices in relation to housing benefit overpayments.
  • Provide advice and guidance on the assessment of housing/council tax benefit to customer using various mediums. Advising on actions to take regarding Housing Benefit claims,suspending claims.
  • Arranging visits for new and vulnerable customers.
  • Providing high levels of customer care and proactively resolving assessments of housing and council tax benefit.
  • An in-depth knowledge of housing and council tax benefit legislation.
  • Working to achieve paying accurate Housing and Council Tax benefit minimizing the loss of subsidy
