Housing Income Officer
As an Income Officer you will carry out a range of tasks including negotiating payment arrangements with customers, providing welfare benefit and money advice and preparing applications for court. You will be on standby to visit customers in their home as well as occasionally attending court hearings.
As you will need to travel for this role, having your own form of transport and a full driving licence is essential.
The successful candidate must hold a valid Adults Enhanced Disclosure on the update service or be prepared to apply for one.
Please note the working hours are Wednesday - Friday 08:30 - 5pm.
Income Officer responsibilities:
- Deliver a comprehensive rent & service charge collection service across the region
- Monitor customer accounts for all tenures to prevent and action customer debt
- Refer customers to supportive interventions as appropriate
- Complete income and expenditure statements with customers to assist in realistic, affordable and sustainable arrangements to clear outstanding debts
- Prepare paperwork required for court action.
- Pro-actively manage current arrears cases where a court order has been obtained and progresses cases as necessary
- Attend court as the main representative for the organisation for all cases of unpaid housing costs
Income Officer skills:
- Knowledge and experience of either social housing, ownership or the private rented sector
- Experience in income management or debt recovery / collection
- Excellent customer service skills
- Working knowledge of welfare benefits
- Be a self-starter with a proactive approach and posses the ability to work without supervision
- Be an effective decision-making skill, a diplomatic and confidential approach and the ability to prioritise a busy workload
