JOB DESCRIPTION
POST TITLE: Housing Options Officer
DIVISION/SECTION: Housing Services
Responsible to: Senior Housing Options Adviser
Hybrid - 3 days office-based, 2 days working from home
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £21 - 23.5 per hour PAYE
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES for Housing Options Officer
- Assess applicants' eligibility for accommodation and make complex decisions regarding statutory homelessness duties.
- Interview and assess homeless people.
- Prevent homelessness by promoting housing options.
- Provide guidance on Security of Tenure, Possession Proceedings, Housing Options, and Welfare Benefits.
- Determine statutory duty under the 1996 Housing Act, Part 7 as amended.
- Advise those threatened with homelessness to prevent it.
- Assess entitlements of single non-priority homeless people and provide statutory advice and assistance.
- Provide advice to private sector tenants.
- Issue detailed and legally compliant decision letters.
- Use a proactive casework approach to identify and implement effective solutions.
- Liaise with service users, operational services, providers, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate data recording and administration for housing cases.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Safeguard the welfare of vulnerable individuals.
