We are looking for a Housing Solicitor to join our In-House client in Devon.

Our Client

Aims for a transformation in housing policy to ensure investment in homes that people on low incomes can afford. They are committed to fighting homelessness, bad housing conditions, and the social injustices that lead to the housing emergency. And are looking for a Solicitor to join them to be a part of meaningful change.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide legal services, focusing on housing litigation including representing homeless people or those in housing need.
  • Engage in court advocacy and handle a wide range of housing cases on issues such as housing disrepair, homelessness, security of tenure, and possession proceedings.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure community awareness of housing rights and legal support.
  • Assist in supervising trainee solicitors and paralegals within the Legal team, ensuring high standards of legal service delivery.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified solicitor with at least 3 years post-qualification experience in housing litigation.
  • Substantial experience in handling a broad range of housing cases in both public and private sectors.
  • Ability to meet the 2018 SQM supervisor standard in housing.
  • Strong knowledge of legally funded work, housing, homelessness, and welfare law.
  • Excellent court advocacy, case management, and report writing skills.
  • Proven ability to meet financial targets and maintain high-quality legal service.

About the team:

The Legal team is part of our client’s extensive network, working closely with other teams to undertake legal interventions and bring systemic change. Their Legal Services provide specialist knowledge and support across the organisation, focusing on community legal support, strategic litigation, and quality compliance.
